Trippy Travel Photo #15: Ecuadorian Pig’s Face, Up Close and Personal

In Trippy Travel Photo Game #15, the photo was of an Ecuadorian pig–up close and personal. People followed these steps, guessed and in a short period of time, there was a winner! Here’s what they did to play the game:

1. Look at the Photo/Study the Details

2. Guess What/Where/Why!

What is the subject of this photo?

Where was I traveling when I saw it?

(If you have no idea, it’s OK to make up silly answers. That’s fun, too!)

3. Check Back Later!

–Post your guesses here in the Comments Section (tweets and FB comments don’t count–sorry)

–Keep checking and guessing as the guessing gets good…

–See who won…maybe it will be you!

The Prize?

A mention of your name and a link to your site from within this post.

And the Winner Is….

Silvia of  I Am Not a Gringa.

The Answer:

A roasted pig in Ecuador.

This particular pig’s photo was taken at a market in Cuenca. Here’s another photo of it (added after the game had been played)–not quite as close up. Now it’s probably more obvious what the photo at the beginning of the post is.

Ecuadorian pig

Can’t get enough?

    I’ll go first :-)

It’s an eye, a human eye.
I’ll guess it is on a mannequin.
It feels Indian/Hindu to me, but I know the Chicky Bus hasn’t been there yet. Perhaps it is in a city where there were Indian people living? How I say “The Caribbean”.

Hello, Robert. Fantastic guess–really–but…no! :) No to what and to where. You’ll be surprised when I reveal the answer! He, he, he…I can tell this is going to be fun!

So…a couple guessers have come to the conclusion that it’s a roasted pig–and that’s true! But they have not identified the country. Can you, C Bus champion guesser-caption writer?

    What – Roast pig
WHere Somewhere in mexico or Puerto Rico
Why – because you wanted to remember what it looked like before you devoured it!

Anuj–great job! You nailed it–as in what it is! But…you do not have the wrong country. Keep trying and you may be the winner. Having said this, you’ve got some strong competition. And that’s from Nate (see his comment). Hurry–or he may beat you! LOL

Firstly, this is an awesomely trippy photo!

As with Anuj, I also think it is a pig. The white eye-lashes are very pig-like.

Where? Wild guess – Dominican Republic?

    (PS, now I’m drooling)

Hey, Nate. Glad you found the photo to be trippy–I certainly did when I took it. I thought–what the heck? Is it crying? Yikes. But then I noticed all of them looking like that.

Re: your guess. You are SO right. It’s a pig! But the country is wrong. Anuj, another player, also guessed that–and so, right now, it’s a tie between the two of you. Whichever one of you guesses the exact country first will win! Good luck! :)

I did offer up the region (Caribbean) which you didn’t react to, so I will steer away from that. South America – nah, they are more into chicken and fish.
I am going to stick my neck right out and say that a country where I *did* see a lot of pig was China. I mean, a WHOLE pig tied onto the back of a bicycle, cased in woven green leaf basket.
*crosses fingers for a big win* LOL

Hi, Robert. Hmmm. Somewhere in your comment is part of the correct answer. I won’t say what, though. LOL to China and NO! :)

Very good guess on Robert’s part, but…that’s not it. PS: I wonder if I should get rid of my map. People have been getting wise lately and checking it–LOL.

Maybe I should have guest Trippy Travelers post their photos–then no one will know!!! Ha!

Congratulations, Silvia! You are the official winner of this round of Trippy Travel Photo! It was a roasted pig–in Ecuador (Cuenca, specifically). How cool that you beat the others who were on the verge of winning. Fun!!

PS: I’m going to post a photo of the entire pig later. Will be interesting for people to see it up close and from a distance.

OMG…that is so funny! I must post the long shot of the pig now–perhaps in an hour or so. Perhaps you’ll recognize the entire scene. I only took one bit of the pig (not the one in the photo–a different one) and it was tasty. But I must admit I was a bit turned off seeing them the way they were. Most looked like they were crying.
