Times Square in the Rain (Photo of the Day)

Rainy Times Square

Times Square, a major tourist attraction and one of the most colorful sights in New York City, is a great photo opp whether you have a serious camera or an iPhone (or another smartphone). For this particular photo, shot just as I was walking away away from the famous landmark, I used the phone and the app Camera +.

Although I was with a friend and rushing to get to Port Authority, I just had to stop and get the shot. The colors, reflected on the wet streets because of the recent rain, were what really got my attention.

Note: Times Square is technically on Broadway and Seventh Ave., from 42nd to 47th Streets. In the photo, I think I was on 42nd St, between 7th and 8th Ave–not in the heart of the action, but on the edge of it.

Your Experience?

Have you been to Times Square? If so, did you enjoy photographing it? Or did you spend more time walking through and checking it out?

Do you have a smartphone? If so, have you been finding that you’re taking more photos than before because the camera–I mean, phone–is with you 24/7?

    Hello there:)
I will probably never go to New York. It’s overpopulated and overpriced. But I do enjoy the pics from other people and so I will live in New York through pictures like this most excellent one above:)

Hey–hi. How the heck have you been? You make some good points re: NYC. Also, it’s so darn expensive! If you ever do come, you’re welcome to couch surf with me. :)
Anyway, I’m really glad you enjoyed the photo. Thanks so much!

Nice shot! I love the colors–and also the sense of movement by the blurring of people in the background.

Great shot–really captures the appeal of NYC. And proves the point that rainy or overcast weather doesn’t mean dismal pics. Just wait until dark and voila!

Hi, Lesley. Thanks for the feedback re: the shot! When I saw it, I just had to grab my iPhone and shoot it. I simply love any/all watery reflection shots; they’re my fave!
