Bedouin Lounge

Random Moment

We spotted him–the young Bedouin man–when we arrived at the desert castle in Eastern Jordan. He was handsome–almost too much so. It was if he’d been made up for a movie or something. And he was flirtatious–with Bedouin eyes that seemed more like bedroom eyes…

He flirted, of course, and we laughed. He offered us that magical tea that the Bedouins drink (with sage, black tea and sugar) and tempted me to stay there for a while, to learn Arabic. I said no. I knew he made that offer to all the women who entered his tent.

He disappeared into the desert. And we–my friend and I–stayed there just a little while longer. You can see why, right? It’s beautiful and really captures the traditional Bedouin style.
