I took this photo of ‘Rama’ and ‘Shinta’, the famous couple in the Ramayana Ballet, during the dance-drama performance on stage at Prambanan Temple–with the nearly full moon in the distance. It was a nice way to end the day, which began with a visit to Borobudur…
Rama and Shinta of the Ramayana Ballet, seen at Prambanan Temple’s open air theatre
I really enjoyed the ballet for a multitude of reasons, including the mesmerizing music–especially the gamelan. And I liked the way the dancers moved their hands. It was also cool that the show was so close to the Prambanan Temple.
For me, a first-timer, it was fascinating to experience. I did get lost in it a few times, however, not quite fully understanding all of it. Perhaps I’ll see it again…
Photographic Details
Camera: Olympus XZ-1
F-Stop: 2.5
Shutter: 1/20 second
ISO: 200
Setting: Night
I left my tripod in my room, unfortunately, so I rested the camera on my knee and used various “night” settings plus the auto timer so that I wouldn’t have to press the shutter and risk camera shake. For the most part, it worked.
I have many photos of this show–and video, too–which I may post. Would you like to see more? I have the couple, the bad guy/s, a good fight scene and some of the various ‘animals’ involved.
