Remember the Trippy Travel Photo game? After a mini hiatus, it’s back and it’s better (or weirder) than ever!

This time around, it’s a complete Trippy Travel Photo Essay–meaning that I’m posting several photos from the same location. I found that one just wasn’t enough.

And so, without further ado….(mini drum roll here)…let’s try Trippy Travel Times Five.

Here, you’ll do what you’ve done before–that is, guess what the pictures are of and where I took them.

But this time around, I’d like to ask you to come up with captions, too. These photos are just begging for them, don’t you think? Almost as much as the Manic Middle Eastern Mannequins were. (At least, these don’t stare quite as much.)

Or feel free to come up with a bizarre tale. If it’s good, I’ll run right here within the post.

Whether you guess successfully or come up with a caption I use (or a great tale), you’ll be a winner. The prize? A mention of your name and a link to your site from within this post (which is good for SEO, etc.)

The Game

First, focus on these questions:

  • What are they?
  • Where are they?
  • What is their purpose?
  • Are they related to each other in some way (here you can weave a tale if you’d like)

Then, or if you’d prefer, just come up with a caption. Looks like fun, dontcha think? Perhaps you can help us make sense of these bizarre….beings (or whatever you might call them).

How to Play

–Post your guesses here in the Comments Section (tweets don’t count–sorry)

–Keep checking and guessing….it becomes more and more fun by the minute!

–See who won; maybe it will be you!

1. Hurry–she (the cow) is in labor!

2. “Aieee, someone help! Angelina Jolie is trying to adopt (steal) my baby!”

Alt caption: “William & Kate, 1 yr. later (nice kilt, Will!)”

3. The Boy Who Wanted the Willies”  (a Brothers Grimm fairy tale in which a boy named Hans joins a circle of dancing skeletons)

4. “I got your travelocity right here!”

5. “Eat your heart out minnie pearl!”

The Winners…

Guessing

Slice of iBackpackerTravel. He guessed exactly what–the Museum of Legends and Traditions–and where: León, Nicaragua! I have a feeling he’s been there since very few people could guess this very easily.

Captions

1. Aaron of Aaron’s Worldwide Adventures

2. David of I’m Heading Out

Runner-up: Dyanne of Travel’nLass

3. Sarah of gotapassport

4. Lorna of The Roamantics

5. Lorna of The Roamantics

The Answer

The Museum of Legends and Traditions (El Museo de Tradiciones y Leyendas) in León, Nicaragua.

This unique place, once a prison where torture was an everyday occurrence, is home to the unique figurines you see in the photos. Each has something to do with León and each tells a story. There’s a Spanish colonel, a golden crocodile, a beheaded priest, a witch-pig, La Mocuana, etc. The museum is located in a building that served as a prison during the regime of the Somoza family. Constructed in 1921, it is known as and therefore ‘Prison 21′ and held prisoners between 1921 to 1979. Sadly, the walls of the prisons are contain murals showing the beatings and torture inflicted on the prisoners.

Can’t get enough?

Here are all of the Trippy Travel photos, guesses and winners–all on one page.

Enjoy!
