This lovely sunflower was standing there, proudly, in front of someone’s house–just waiting for me to take its photo. (Well, not really…it was just there.)
What drew me to it was its warm and bold yellow, which stood out against its own green leaves and the green paint on the windowpane behind it. I especially like the texture of the center.
Sunflower, Dominican Republic
Where was I exactly?
In a town called Paraíaso in the Southwestern Dominican Republic, a bit off the beaten path. This particular sunflower was across from a hotel I stayed at. Every time I stepped outside, I saw it and it made me smile.
Flowers always get my attention no matter where I am–traveling or at home. I sometimes wish I lived in a warmer climate so that I could see them everyday.

What Kind of Flowers Do You Like to Photograph?
What’s your favorite flower? Which ones are you drawn to when you travel–those you see at home anyway or something that’s a bit more exotic? I, frankly, love them all!
Is It Spring Yet?
If you live in a 4-season climate, are you getting psyched, as I am, that spring’s right around the corner? I sort of feel like it’s already here.
